Just as 2020 could not get any worse than it already has been, October decided to throw a curveball at America. Following the first Presidential Debate of 2020, a couple days later President Donald Trump and the First Lady, Melania Trump, have tested positive for COVID-19. President Trump has now been relocated and moved to Walter Reed Hospital to receive the proper treatment needed to restore his health back.

After the news went viral online and all over social media, there were many opinions from a variety of people on what they thought about the situation. Many believed karma had finally caught up to him for hosting large group rallies during the pandemic and did not feel any sympathy towards him. On the other hand, people put their political beliefs aside and publicly wished the President of The United States and The First Lady a quick and safe recovery. Celebrities such as former President Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Joe Biden, Snoop Dogg, and many others went online to wish the president a good recovery. Former President Barack Obama tweeted, “ Obviously we’re in the midst of a big political battle right now, and while there’s a lot at stake, let's remember that we’re all Americans. We’re all human beings. And we want everyone to be healthy, no matter our party.” Joe Biden took to twitter and wished “President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump a swift recovery.” Snoop Dogg even came out publicly and put his political views aside by posting on instagram, “Prayers out to the president and the First Lady.” President Donald Trump has posted on his social media accounts updates to the public about his physical health and he seems to be handling the situation very calmly. Fortunately, former Vice President and running candidate, Joe Biden and his wife Jill Biden have both tested negative for Covid-19. They are staying safe and following all the procedures while waiting on news from President Trump on his current situation.

Due to the fact President Trump tested positive for COVID-19, it may delay future Presidential debates. As we all know, the first debate did not go so well and both parties somehow believed they each won that night. The second debate was planned to happen on October 15 in Florida. Unlike the first debate, the second will operate as a town hall event, where the candidates will answer questions from pre-selected members of the audience. This debate may either be canceled or pushed back further into the month based on President Trump’s health conditions and his recovery from the coronavirus.

It is important to understand that President Trump goes under a lot of stress everyday because he is not able to please every American. He is put in situations with a fork in the road and has to choose what is best for the country even if it does not benefit everyone. At the end of the day he is still a human being and no one should wish death upon him and his family.
