As we begin to roll into the months of Fall, or “Spooky Season,” our desire for the popular pumpkin spice flavor kicks in. And whether or not you believe it, pumpkin spice season is a big deal. Some countdown the seconds until they can get their hands on the seasonal “PSL” Pumpkin Spice Latte. Some wait until canned pumpkin hits the shelves in their local grocery store to make homemade muffins. If you’re anything like me, you dream of the day when the sky is filled with thick grey clouds, the trees hanging with maroon, auburn, and gold leaves, and your house surrounded with warm autumn aromas. The day when you can lounge on your couch with a warm drink in your hand, and watch Halloweentown knowing that the best holiday of the year is just days away. So without further ado, here are some of the best seasonal fall/pumpkin items on the market.
Pumpkin Spice Latte: The Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks is an obvious classic. Whether you get it hot, iced, or blended in a Frappuccino, it’s easy to say that you can’t go wrong when ordering this drink. The grande size ($4.95) contains 2 shots of espresso, balanced with 4 pumps of pumpkin sauce, and topped with whipped cream and pumpkin spice to give you the sensational fall drink.
Pumpkin Muffins: If you’re lucky enough to obtain a can of pumpkin this holiday season, try making homemade pumpkin bread or muffins. Load them with chocolate chips, and you can thank me later. Baking your own muffins is the perfect way to satisfy your sweet tooth, while also turning your house into your very own pumpkin candle. Trust me when I say your house will smell like baked goods for the next couple of days, but who can complain about that?
Spicy Pumpkin Curry Simmer Sauce: For a more savory pick, Trader Joe’s released a $2.99 pumpkin curry sauce that would pair perfectly with rice and vegetables. Filled with fall flavor, you could make it a meal for the whole family and indulge in this delicious sauce at the dinner table with loved ones.
Pumpkin scented candles: No matter the brand, most pumpkin spice scented candles are consistent. Pick up one at just about any local grocery store or pharmacy, or if you’re feeling spicy, head over to Bath and Body Works and inhale the whirls of pumpkin spice from the comfort of your very own house. Just don’t burn out your candles too fast, as you probably want to make the pumpkin scent last all season.
Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookie Mix: Last, but certainly not least, this $3.99 cookie mix from Trader Joe’s is a must have for all of your fall desires. This recipe contains oats, adding a different texture to the mix, but melts perfectly into the chocolate chips. These cookies have an exceptional orange color, making it the perfect fall treat. Set out a plate full of them for everyone to enjoy. Just make sure you get your hands on one before they’re gone.
